Personal Letter Prerkmahal Kalan, 4 December The sit-in by the toll workers in favor of their demands at the toll plaza located near Malhian village on the Barnala-Moga national highway continued for the 22nd consecutive day. As usual today, leaders of Bharatiya Kisan Union Ugrahan and Toll Plaza Employees Union Punjab participated in the dharna of the employees. On this occasion, the leaders of the protestors Sukhjit Singh, Amrit Singh, Lakhveer Lakhi, Yamla Singh, Harman Singh, Gavi Sharma and Jagmeet Singh alleged that the new company that came to run the toll plaza was not paying their salaries as per the central pay scale. Apart from this, many other essential facilities including EPF, health insurance are being refused to the employees due to which they are struggling. He said that several meetings have been held with the toll company and administrative officials, but no solution has been found. He said that as long as their demands are not accepted, they will continue their struggle. It may be mentioned that the toll plaza has been completely free for the last 47 days and the workers’ strike has been going on for 22 days. Earlier, toll was kept free of slips by BKU collections for 25 days.
