The United Trade Union Punjab, under the leadership of the state president of the organization, Harjinder Singh, held a protest here today, demanding strict action against the hawkers. Addressing the workers of the organization in front of the office of the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) here, Harjinder Singh accused the administration of not taking action against the jugaru hawkers. He said that due to the open running of these jugaru rickshaws, the mini transport is facing severe losses. He said that the mini transporters are having to pay taxes etc. as per the government rules, while these jugaru street vendors are not following any kind of rules nor are they having to pay any tax etc. The organization gave a demand letter to Poonam in charge of the driving testing track in the absence of the RTA official The organization also protested in front of the district administrative complex and gave a demand letter to the Deputy Commissioner in the name of the Chief Minister to take action against these illegal rickshaws. Leaders of the organization Jaswinder Singh Panjwad, Gurpreet Singh Mann, Jaspal Singh, Jugraj Singh Mianpur, Sukhjit Singh Khela also addressed the protesters.
