Doha (Qatar), December 7
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar today called for a more exclusive and cooperative diplomacy, saying the needle of time is now moving towards dialogue rather than a continuation of the Russia-Ukraine war. Apart from the impact of the war on the Gulf countries, Jaishankar also highlighted the impact on all countries including India in the form of increase in the prices of oil, fertilizers and shipping etc. Jaishankar is on a visit to Doha to participate in the Doha Forum at the invitation of Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Bin Abdulrahman. He was addressing a panel with Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman and Norway’s Foreign Minister Aspen Barth Ide.
Answering a question about the situation in the Gulf region and the latest situation in Syria, the foreign minister explained how the conflict is progressing and also gave examples of Israel-Iran firing on each other. He spoke about how the situation in the Red Sea is affecting shipping to Asia, and then referred to a previous session of journalists saying that even though the work is difficult, journalists need to do it.
“I think the world’s diplomats have to tell themselves, this is a messed up world,” Jaishankar said. This is terrible. There are conflicts, but still there are all other reasons for the diplomats of the world to move forward.” Managed, all that is left behind. Now all countries need to move forward.” -News-Patiala
