A pit formed in the ground
According to the Daily Mail report, Dr. Hurd said, ‘No other meteorite impact of this type has been documented, even with a recognizable sound. When the rock fell into his house, it moved so fast that the camera captured only one frame. When Dr. Hurd saw the samples, he realized that this was no ordinary stone. Fortunately, Dr. Hurd arrived at the site just 10 days after the stone fell. He noticed that a 2 cm X 2 cm hole had formed at the place where the stone had fallen.

The meteor covered a journey of 32 crore kilometers
With the help of Joe and Laurie, Dr. Heard collected 95 grams of asteroid material. It is being kept at the University of Alberta for further study. The stone is now called the ‘Charlotte Meteorite’ after the capital of Prince Edward Island. It is composed of chondrites which are the most common meteorites. Chondrite meteorites survived the formation of the Solar System about 4.5 billion years ago and have remained virtually untouched in the far reaches of space ever since. It is believed that this rock may have traveled a distance of 329 million km.
