Rinku Singh can be made the captain of Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2025. Team India’s new finisher Rinku has been with KKR since 2018. He was retained by Knight Riders for Rs 18 crore before the IPL 2025 mega auction. Rinku has recently been given the command of the UP team for the Vijay Hazare Trophy. The Vijay Hazare Trophy is starting from December 21.
UP’s first match is expected to be handed over to KKR in the IPL after captaining UP in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. However, amid all this, left-handed batsman Rinku Singh is not thinking much about the captaincy of KKR. His eyes are currently on making UP the champion in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. UP won its first Vijay Hazare Trophy title in 2015-16.
On the eve of the match against Manipur, Rinku Singh said, ‘I am not thinking much about the captaincy of KKR in the upcoming IPL season. Right now my focus is on winning the trophy for the Uttar Pradesh team. I want our team to win Vijay Hazare trophy again. We won the trophy for the first time in 2015-16. Keeping the future in mind, the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association recently handed over the team’s command to Rinku Singh. Earlier the command of the team was in the hands of Bhuveshwar Kumar but Bhuvi is 34 years old. In such a situation, UPCA wanted to give the reins of the team in the hands of the youth.
‘I want to do better in captaincy’
Rinku Singh is leading the team at the senior level for the first time. Earlier he was seen captaining Meerut Mavericks in the UPT20 league. I am happy that I did well, I enjoyed the captaincy a lot. I learned a lot from this, now I am focusing on my bowling as well. As the captain of the Uttar Pradesh team, I want to play a big role.
