The Punjab government has dismissed Punjab police cadre DSP Gursher Singh Sandhu. This police officer helped interview gangster Lawrence Bishnoi while in police custody at the CIA’s Kharar police station in March 2023. The Punjab government has decided to sack DSP Gursher Singh for tarnishing the reputation of the police department. The Department of Home Affairs has issued orders regarding the dismissal after giving a green signal to the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC). PPSC is the appointing authority for Punjab Police Service (PPS) cadre officers. More than 80 cases have been registered against Lawrence Bishnoi, the main conspirator in the Sidhu Moosewala murder case, for murder, extortion and other crimes.
