In the nearby village of Khandebad, a Dalit laborer who could not bear the financial hardship committed suicide by hanging himself in his attic. The deceased has been identified as Harpreet Singh Ladi (27 years), son of Yodha Singh. He used to spend the season on the combine to harvest the paddy and wheat crops and apart from that he used to work as a laborer in kilns etc.
That laborer was suffering due to financial hardship for a long time and was suffering due to not getting any work. The family cremated him without informing the police.
Senior leader of Dalit Human Rights Council Comrade Sebi Khandebad said that the family is very poor and Harpreet Singh was the only earner in the house. He is survived by his wife and children. He demanded from the government that such suicides of workers are a matter of concern, especially in order to stop the suicides of the working youth, the government should find a permanent solution so that the youth do not follow such a path.
