Fast bowler Prasidh Krishna suffered a concussion (a condition similar to head injury) and left mid-match after being hit on the helmet while batting for India A against Australia A on the second day of the second unofficial Test here on Wednesday.
In the 39th over of the innings, a ball from Australian fast bowler Henry Thornton hit Prishid on his helmet and, as per protocol, the team’s medical staff immediately conducted a concussion test on him.
The Karnataka fast bowler continued to bat after the Test but left the field after three overs, ending his impressive eighth-wicket partnership with B Sai Sudharsan.
Vidarbha fast bowler Yash Thakur joined the squad in place of Prasidh due to a head injury. “He is feeling fine right now. We are monitoring him and a decision will be taken tomorrow,” a team source told News-Patiala.
Prasidh’s bowling performance in Australia’s first innings was average, conceding 76 runs in 17 overs and taking the lone wicket of opener Campbell Kellaway. The 29-year-old is expected to be included in the Indian Test squad for the two-match series against the West Indies.
