Memories of a similar plane crash in Mangalore became fresh again. In May 2010, an Air India plane skidded off the runway and hit a rock while landing at Mangalore airport. About 160 people lost their lives in this tragic accident. In fact, while the flight was landing on Runway-24, which was relatively short, it had moved forward. Due to the shortness of the runway, the flight moved forward and its wing collided with the antenna and the plane fell down the hill. With this, the entire ship was engulfed in flames. Only 8 people were saved in this accident.
