Taiwan’s fire department said 27 people were hospitalized with minor injuries. Six people, including a one-month-old baby, were rescued from a house that collapsed due to the earthquake in Nanxi District, Tainan.
In April last year, a magnitude 7.4 earthquake struck Hualien, off Taiwan’s mountainous east coast. At least 13 people were killed and more than 1,000 injured in that earthquake. The most powerful earthquake in 25 years was followed by several aftershocks. Before this, there was an earthquake in the neighboring country of Nepal. More than a hundred people were killed in that earthquake.
