During a press conference in New Delhi, he expressed pride in being of Indian origin and said that Indian immigrants are sending the message of peace, progress and prosperity to the entire world. He reiterated his commitment to make education and health facilities accessible and free to all Indian citizens through his ‘Proud Indian Party’. Citing his long experience and contributions in global health, Dr. Suthanathiran stressed on early detection and treatment of cancer, diabetes and heart diseases. He expressed concern over corruption and red tape in India, but also said India has the potential to lead in global health and manufacturing.
Warning on economic oppression of Hindu traders
Dr. Suthanthiran said that the issue of economic oppression of businessmen of Indian origin in Canada has now become a matter of concern at the global level. He urged Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to look into the issue and assure the Indian community of inclusion and equality. He appealed to international human rights organizations to conduct an impartial investigation into this discrimination and economic bias. Dr. “It is the need of the hour to take decisive action against any form of injustice and discrimination,” Suthanathiran said.
