Elon Musk: During Tesla’s recent third-quarter earnings call, Elon Musk placed special emphasis on the company’s most ambitious project, the Optimus humanoid robot. The world has so far seen this robot only serving popcorn, but according to Musk, this will prove to be the biggest technological revolution in the future. He says that now Tesla’s aim is not just clean energy or self-driving cars but to usher in an era which he calls Sustainable Abundance.
Musk’s claim
Elon Musk believes that human needs are not limited to energy only. He said, “Our new mission is to create a world of Sustainable Abundance, where no one has to face poverty. Through Optimus and self-driving technology, we can create a society where everyone gets the best health facilities. Imagine, if every person has a robot with the capabilities of an excellent surgeon, then both poverty and deprivation will end.”
Optimus Version 3 will come in 2026
At present, Optimus has only been seen working during demos, but Musk announced that its next version will be launched in early 2026. Their goal is to produce one million units of this humanoid every year. Musk claims that Optimus can prove to be Tesla’s biggest and historic product so far. However, he also admitted that producing it on such a large scale would be a very challenging task.
Debate on robot army and control
As always, Musk linked this project to investors and said that he wants more control over the future of Tesla. He said that unless they get adequate powers, they will not be able to carry forward projects like “Robot Army” to their full potential. It is being told that the price of Musk’s new CEO pay package could be around 1 trillion dollars.
Has the era of robots really arrived?
Elon Musk has been talking about the idea for a long time that automation will free humans from the shackles of work. Although this dream has not yet come true, Musk claims that the era of the future is no longer the future, but has already knocked at the door.
Optimus seems like the stuff of science fiction right now, but Musk thinks it’s the technology that could change the course of the world, whether it brings prosperity for all or widens inequality.
