European Union General Robert Bruegger decide for deployment of European troops in Greenland after trump threat


US V/S Greenland Row: US President Donald Trump recently threatened to join Greenland in the US, causing a stir at the international level. Trump had a conversation with the Prime Minister of Denmark on the matter and described it as important for America. According to The Telegraph report, Military Chief General Robert Brigger of the European Union (EU) has also emphasized the need for the deployment of European soldiers in Greenland.

Greenland’s security and control over the region is very important for the US and European Union. Greenland has a Pituffic Space Base, where 200 American soldiers are deployed and monitors the base missiles and satellites. General Robert Brigger believes that not only American soldiers but also European soldiers should be deployed in Greenland.

Trump threatened to occupy Greenland
Donald Trump expressed his desire to join Greenland in the US and also commented on Denmark. He said, “The presence of ships from Russia and China can cause tension in the region and Greenland should be with the US.” Trump also questioned Denmark’s security system and said that America’s role would be more impressive for Greenland.

Russia and China eyes on Greenland
Russia and China are watching the natural resources of Greenland, especially on mineral resources hidden under snow. Brigger said that the deployment of European soldiers in Greenland will send a clear message to China and Russia not to put a bad eye on the region. If America and European soldiers are present here, it will further strengthen the security of the region.

A member country of Denmark EU
Greenland is not a member of the European Union, but Denmark protects it. Denmark is a member country of EU and is responsible for Greenland’s security. However, Trump’s threat and EU’s response has further increased the concern of international security in the region.

France stands on Greenland issue
On the issue of Greenland, not only Denmark but also France has said that it will not allow any country to attack Greenland. This statement came from his side when Donald Trump spoke of using military force to capture Greenland. On the matter, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barot had said that the European Union would not allow other countries of the world to attack its sovereign borders, no matter what.
