The Tata Sierra SUV was first launched in 1991. Industry experts consider it the country’s first SUV. Since the demand for SUVs is more than ever today, the company has decided to relaunch it in the Indian market. The official specifications of this SUV have not been revealed yet, but some features have been revealed.

Engine and performance
The new Sierra is likely to be launched with both petrol and diesel engine options.

Petrol: It might get a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine that produces around 170 PS of power and 280 Nm of torque.

Diesel: It may be powered by a 1.5-litre diesel engine that produces around 118 PS of power and 260 Nm of torque.

transmission: Both the engines are expected to be offered with a choice of 6-speed manual and automatic (DCT/TC) gearboxes.

EV option: An all-electric (EV) version of the Sierra is also expected, with multiple battery pack options offering a range of 400 km to 500 km.

The Sierra will retain its classic boxy design and 3-door look, but will get several modern changes.

External: It will feature vertically-stacked headlamps, connected LED DRLs, and Tata’s signature connected LED taillamp setup. Like the old Sierra, it may have a larger rear quarter glass window.

Internal: The cabin will have a premium and spacious feel. Expect features like a triple-screen layout (digital instrument cluster, touchscreen infotainment, and co-passenger display), a panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, dual-zone climate control, and a JBL premium sound system.

Safety: In terms of safety, it can be equipped with many advanced features like level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System), 6 to 7 airbags, a 360-degree camera, ESC, and hill-hold assist.
