New Delhi, 20 December
The Supreme Court today said that the petition seeking formulation of a policy for the verification of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) will now be heard by a bench headed by Justice Dipankar Dutta in January next year. A bench comprising Chief Justice Sanjeev Khanna and Justice Sanjay Kumar said that the petition filed by former Haryana Minister and five-time MLA Karan Singh Dalal and Lakhan Kumar Singla will be heard by the bench of Justice Dutta during the week starting from January 20. . It is notable that the bench of Justice Khanna and Justice Dutta had dismissed the petition demanding to conduct the elections again with ballot papers in the judgment delivered in April this year. Earlier, on December 13, a bench of Justice Vikram Nath and Justice PB Warale had refused to hear the petition saying that the matter should be heard by the bench which had previously heard similar petitions. Now the matter was listed before a bench headed by CJI. -News-Patiala
