Excise Policy Case: Excise Policy Case: Delhi High Court sought response from ED

New Delhi, December 2

AAP leader Manish Sisodia: The Delhi High Court today sought a response from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on the money laundering case related to the excise policy. AAP leader Manish Sisodia has challenged the charge sheet filed against him.

Justice Manoj Kumar Ohri has issued a notice to the ED and asked it to reply on December 20 on Sisodia’s petition.

The former Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi sought a direction from the High Court to quash the orders of the lower court on the ground that approval was not obtained as per the rules for conducting the case in this regard. Earlier, the Supreme Court granted bail to AAP leader Manish Sisodia in corruption and money laundering cases related to the alleged scam in Delhi’s excise policy. The apex court said that he has been in custody for 17 months but the trial has not yet started. Criticizing the lower courts, the apex court said that they have been deprived of the right to a speedy trial and freedom due to being kept in jail for a long time without starting the trial of the case.
