Chandigarh Senior Citizens Association celebrated International Elderly Day here at Law Bhawan located in Sector-37. On this occasion, Punjab Governor and UT Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria attended as the chief guest. Mr. Kataria said that the experience of seniors will be used in public interest. Therefore, senior citizens who have worked in various fields throughout their lives will be included in the advisory of UT administration so that they are consulted while taking decisions regarding various sectors including health, education, engineering, crime prevention in Chandigarh. can go 10 women above 85 years of age and persons above 90 years of age were specially honored by Punjab Governor and UT Administrator. Along with this, he appealed to the younger generation to respect and care for the elders. He said that in the changing structure of the society, the elderly have to spend time alone at home. Therefore, the young generation should be especially careful that no elderly person stays alone in their house. On this occasion, BJP leader Sanjay Tandon appreciated the work being done by the Chandigarh Senior Citizens Association in the interests of the elderly. He said that along with the increase in population in the society, the problems of older persons are also increasing.

UT Administrator visited the hospitals of Sector 32 and 48

Chandigarh (Kuldeep Singh): Governor of Punjab and Administrator of UT Chandigarh Gulab Chand Kataria today visited Government Medical College Hospitals located in Sector-32 and Sector-48. During his visit, he inspected various wards and reviewed the health services being provided in both the hospitals by interacting with the attending doctors. Emphasizing the need to increase emergency care in the Sector-32 hospital, the administrator said that a new emergency wing with 280 beds is being added in view of the increasing number of patients. The new emergency building, which was earlier targeted for completion by December 31, has been delayed but is now expected to be ready by March 31. Mr. Kataria directed the concerned engineering wing officials to ensure that emergency services at the new facility start without any delay by April. Hospital Finance Governor of Sector-48 emphasized the importance of increasing health care and directed the health department to prepare a detailed report on increasing the number of doctors, staff and medical equipment. While the capacity of the hospital is 150 beds, the administrator stressed the need to fully utilize this capacity for effective service to the citizens of the city.
