Famous cricketer’s father sentenced to 10 years, know what is the matter?


A major court decision has come in Multai of Betul district, in which Vinay Kumar Ojha, the father of former Indian cricket team wicketkeeper batsman Naman Ojha, has been sentenced. He was convicted in a bank embezzlement case in 2013 and sentenced to 10 years in prison and a fine of Rs 10 lakh. The Additional Sessions Judge of Multai pronounced the sentence on Monday.

In this case, not only Vinay Kumar Ojha, but his partner Abhishek Ratnam, who was his manager, and two other employees have also been sentenced. Abhishek Ratnam has also been sentenced to ten years in prison while the other two employees have been sentenced to seven years in prison.

In fact, in 2013, Vinay Kumar Ojha was the manager of the Maharashtra Bank branch located in Jolkhera village of Betul district. Meanwhile, he embezzled about 1.25 crore rupees in the bank. Vinay Kumar Ojha embezzled this huge amount by manipulating the bank’s financial records, causing huge losses to the bank.

An FIR in this case was registered in Multai police station in 2014, but Vinay Kumar Ojha and his accomplices escaped after this incident. The police searched for him several times but he remained in hiding. Meanwhile, other accused were arrested, while no trace of Vinay Ojha could be found.

The Multai Court, while hearing the case, sentenced the four accused on Tuesday. After the sentence, Vinay Kumar Ojha was sent to jail directly from the court, while the other three accused have already been sent to jail.

According to the information, they had opened 34 fake accounts, through which this fraud was carried out. The accused had transferred the loan taken from Kisan Credit Card to that account. About Rs 1.25 crore was withdrawn from fake accounts. In the same case, along with Vinay Kumar, three other accused Abhishek Ratnam, Dhanraj and Lakhanlal have also been sentenced to jail and fined.
