Punjab Assembly Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan on Friday evening took stock of the loss suffered by farmers due to the breaking of the canal 3 days ago in Koharwala village of Kotkapura. Instructed the administrative officials to compensate the losses of the farmers.

Kultar Singh Sandhwan told that he had received information that due to the breaking of the canal (Jabaha) of the village, there has been a huge loss to the crops of the farmers. Instructed departmental officers to compensate for the loss. The government will provide seeds to the farmers for sowing crops again and compensation will be given to those farmers whose crops have been destroyed.

On Tuesday night, the Rajbaha passing through Koharwala was broken and due to the strong flow of water, about 150 acres of fields in the village were flooded. After the information, the canal department got the water supply of Rajbaha shut off. But by then the farmers’ wheat and vegetable crops were submerged in water. The farmers had demanded compensation from the government.
