The Supreme Court will hear on January 6 the petition against the Chief Secretary and DGP of Punjab for not following the instructions given to provide medical aid to the farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal who is on death fast. will do The Supreme Court had earlier pulled up the Punjab government and said that its officials and some farmers’ leaders are making irresponsible statements in the media about Dallewal’s attempts to break his death fast.

The court had slammed the Punjab government for not taking Dallewal to the hospital even though it suspected the intention of the struggling farmers to provide medical aid to their 70-year-old leader. Last December 20, the Supreme Court had given the responsibility of admitting Dallewal to the Punjab government officials and doctors. The court said that 70-year-old Dallewal could be taken to a makeshift hospital set up within 700 meters of the protest site on the Khanuri border between Punjab and Haryana. It may be mentioned that Dallewal has been on fast to death since November 26 at the Khanuri border to put pressure on the Center to accept farmers’ demands, including the legal guarantee of MSP. -News-Patiala

In view of this, there was a lot of commotion of officials at the Dubai Gujran border today. The government has to file an affidavit in the apex court regarding Dallewal’s health tomorrow, due to which the district officials visited the border today. District Administration Deputy Commissioner Dr. Preeti Yadav, ADC Anupreeta Johal, SDM of Patdar Ashok Kumar along with some doctors reached the border. On the other hand, retired DIG Narendra Bhargava and SSP Dr. Nanak Singh also held a meeting with farmers’ leaders. Although the details of the meetings have not been published by both parties, it is said that these officials insisted on persuading Dallewal for treatment.
