In view of the exodus of farmers to Delhi, the Kaithal district administration has made strict security arrangements at the Ghaggar river bridge located on the Tatyana border of Guhla Chika. The administration has deployed a company of police personnel along with water cannons, tear gas shells and hydra machines to stop the protesting farmers. Although no group of farmers from the Punjab side has reached the Tatiana border connecting Guhla Chika with Punjab, the administration has made strict security arrangements as a precaution. The district administration is on full alert to ensure that farmers coming from Punjab do not cross the Tatyana border and enter Haryana. Despite heavy police deployment on the border, vehicular traffic on Chika Patiala Road is completely normal. Apart from this, vehicular traffic is continuing as usual on about a dozen small roads entering Haryana from the Punjab side and the administration is continuously providing internet service.

The people of Guhla have demanded from the district administration that Chika Patiala Road should not be closed at any cost. Local residents said that the people of Chika city have to go to Patiala for medicines and other works. It may be mentioned that a few months ago, Cheika Patiala Road was completely closed for a month in view of farmers’ march towards Delhi. Meanwhile, even pedestrians could not cross the border.

In this regard, Chika police station in-charge Suresh Saini said that strict security arrangements have been made at the Tatiana border of Chika after the announcement of marching towards Delhi by the farmers. Everyone crossing the border is being closely monitored. There has been no activity on the border for the past two days. He said that those who violate the law will be dealt with strictly.
