The Haryana government on Saturday suspended mobile internet and bulk SMS services to maintain public peace in 12 villages of Ambala district, hours before farmers’ protest march resumed from Shambhu border to Delhi. According to the orders issued by Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Sumita Mishra, this suspension will remain in effect till December 17.
The order said, “It has been brought to my notice by the Additional Director General of Police, CID, Haryana and the Deputy Commissioner, Ambala, that there is tension, anger, and agitation in view of the call by some farmers’ organizations for the Delhi march.” There is a fear of Mishra said that orders were issued to stop mobile internet in Dangdehri, Lehrgarh, Manakpur, Dadiana, Badi Ghal, Choti Ghall, Lehra, Kalu Majra, Devi Nagar (Hira Nagar, Naresh Vihar), Saddopur, Sultanpur and Kakru villages of Ambala. have gone The suspension will be in effect from 6 am on December 14 to 11.59 pm on December 17.
It may be mentioned that the farmers are marching to compel the Center for legal guarantee of minimum support price of crops. Pressure is also being put on the Center to negotiate with them to resolve their issues. Heavy deployment of security personnel has already been made on the Haryana side of the border. Earlier, the Haryana government had suspended mobile internet services, bulk SMS and dongle services from December 6 to 9.
The order is being issued keeping in mind public convenience by exempting personal SMS, mobile recharge, banking SMS, voice calls, internet services provided through broadband and leased lines of corporate and household households, the official said.
