Where the farmers of Punjab-Haryana are on the streets against the government for the demand of Minimum Support Price (MSP) in India. A large group of farmers are sitting on the side of the roads connecting the nation’s capital, the farmers are preparing to march towards Delhi. But farmers in another country have taken to the streets against the government. People around were shocked when tractors suddenly started running on the streets of London on Wednesday. Farmers were opposing the inclusion of farming families in ‘Virasat Tax’ i.e. Inheritance Tax. Critics have termed this move of the government as a tractor tax.

Farmers took to the streets of central London with their tractors on Wednesday, blocking roads and protesting the government’s inclusion of farming families in inheritance tax. Farmers are demanding exemption from this tax. Farmers say that this will destroy the family farms. Food production will decrease. On Wednesday, farmers blocked Parliament House Road with tractors to force the British government to withdraw its decision. Farmers are trying to sway the government by protesting on a large scale.

“These new taxes are proving to be the final nail in the coffin for farmers,” Gareth Wayne Jones, a London farmer, told the news channel. The protesting farmers stood outside the parliament with placards. “No farmers, no food, no future” was written on their placards. Farmers say their incomes have fallen in recent years due to Britain’s supermarket sector, cheap imports from abroad and subsidy cuts after Brexit. Transferring farms to generations was previously tax-free, but in October the government announced that farmers’ land would be taxed from 2026. Immediately after this, protests started in different parts of the country. In November there were large-scale protests in London. More than 13,000 farmers took to the streets of Westminster in November, including Britain’s most high-profile farmer, Jeremy Clarkson.
