Farmers have opened a front against this project of Dashmesh canal coming out of the area. Due to this canal project, farmers from dozens of affected villages gathered in the nearby village of Jhingaran Kalan due to the fear of displacement. The farmers have strongly opposed the Dashmesh canal construction. After the visit of the canal department team to the villages of the area regarding the construction of Dashmesh canal, the farmers of dozens of villages including Jhingar Kalan, Chhoti Jhingar, Shahpur, Lakhnor, Nanheri, Kannur gathered in Jhingar Kalan. Meanwhile, farmers Sukhdev Singh, Didar Singh, Sukhjinder Singh, Baljinder Singh Singhpura, Darshan Singh, Harminder Singh, Satwinderjit Singh, Sukhwinder Singh Chhoti Jhingaran, Nambardar Jeet Singh Lakhnore, Karam Singh and others protested the Dashmesh canal and said that this canal area will cause displacement of farmers. He said that the farmers of the area already have very little land left. He said that these lands are also being acquired for the canal now. Farmers said that they do not even need water for irrigation as they have arranged water for their lands. Farmers said that their dairy business will also be affected by the Dashmesh canal and the residential areas of many villages will also come under its influence. The farmers have demanded from the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and the government that the Dashmesh canal should not be constructed contrary to the needs and demands of the farmers. The farmers warned that if the government continued to dispossess them in the name of Dashmesh canal, they would have to fight hard. The farmers also warned of the Chief Minister’s siege.
