Jalandhar, 15 December

Palani Swamy, a two-time Congress councilor from ward number 22 here, joined the Aam Aadmi Party today. Aam Aadmi Party Punjab President Aman Arora, Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO and Gurmeet Singh inducted Palani Swamy into the party. Let it be known that Palani Swamy was working with Congress for the last 15 years, due to which Palani Swamy’s sudden separation from the party is a big shock. A large part of the city is dominated by the Palani owners. According to the new ward division, this time the Congress made Surinder Singh a candidate from Palani Swamy’s ward. Because of this, the Congress sidelined Palani Swamy. When Palani Swamy did not get a ticket, he decided to join the Aam Aadmi Party. He joined AAP after meeting Aam Aadmi Party Punjab President Aman Arora today. Aman Arora said Palani Swamy’s entry into the Aam Aadmi Party family has added strength as he has considerable influence in the Kazi Mandi area. In such a case, Aam Aadmi Party will get strength in the said area.

Election activities increased in Nagar Panchayat Shahkot

Shahkot (Pattar Prerak): Aam Aadmi Party and Congress have fielded 13 candidates each, Bharatiya Janata Party 12 and Shiromani Akali Dal 11 candidates for the election of 13 wards of Nagar Panchayat Shahkot to be held on December 21. 5 independent candidates including rebel candidate of AAP are contesting. BJP did not get any candidate from Ward No. 12 and Shiromani Akali Dal (B) from Ward No. 1 and 3. The residents of the town are making various speculations regarding the withdrawal of the nomination papers of Aam Aadmi Party candidate Ramesh Kumar Hans from ward number 10. Hans had been preparing for the Nagar Panchayat elections along with party activities for a long time. The party had also given him a ticket and he had also filled the nomination papers but he withdrew his papers. After the withdrawal of Hans’ papers, former Congress councilor Raj Kumar was made a candidate by AAP. AAP leader Sucha Gill, a candidate for a ticket from the same ward, has rebelled from the party and is contesting as an independent candidate due to the party not giving him a ticket. How much damage the rebel candidate does to himself, time will tell on December 21. The Congress party has made the daughter-in-law and father-in-law from the same family as candidates. Congress has fielded former Kaushal Resam Lal from Ward No. 8 and his daughter-in-law Kuljit Rani from Ward No. 9. Kuljit Rani’s husband Barinder Kumar is also a former Congress councillor.
