Kyiv, January 18
Russia launched a heavy-handed attack on the Ukrainian capital with drones and missiles on Saturday. Four persons were killed in the attack. On the other hand, Ukraine attacked the industrial areas of Russia through drones, due to which many places were set on fire. According to the Ukrainian Air Force, Russia fired 39 Shahid drones and four ballistic missiles early today. He said that the Ukrainian Air Force shot down two missiles and 24 drones in the air while 14 drone simulators went missing. Timur Tkachenko, head of Kyiv City’s military administration, said four people were killed when a missile exploded in the air and debris fell in the Shevchenkivskyi district. He said that debris has also fallen in Desninski district. Kyiv Mayor Vitaly Klishko said several residential buildings were damaged, while a water supply pipeline was also broken. He said that due to the attack, the entrance of Lukyanviska metro station has been damaged. Meanwhile, due to Ukraine’s drone attacks, fires broke out at industrial sites in Russia’s Kaluga and Tula regions. The Russian Defense Ministry said that 46 Ukrainian drones have been destroyed. People from the Kaluga region claimed on social media that the local oil depot was targeted. – Ap
