Former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina fled to India in August last year to save her life. After this, Muhammad Yunus became the interim Prime Minister of the country. Almost five months later, an audio of Hasina has surfaced. In this audio message released by the Party Awami League, a terrified Sheikh Hasina said, “Rehana (sister) and I escaped death by just 20-25 minutes.” Awami League released this audio on its Facebook page.
Last year, students staged massive protests against Sheikh Hasina’s government, in which 600 people lost their lives. Sheikh Hasina accused of conspiracy to murder. He also believed that his life was saved by the mercy of Allah. He said, “I think it was Allah’s will that I survived. First the grenade attack on August 21, then the Kotalipara bomb blast conspiracy and now this recent attack. Rehana and I survived. Otherwise we would not be alive.
The attack happened for the third time
This is not the first time that an assassination plot has been hatched against Sheikh Hasina. Earlier, on August 21, 2004, Hasina was targeted by a grenade attack during a rally in Dhaka. 24 people were killed in these attacks while more than 500 people were injured. Hasina suffered minor injuries and survived. Similarly, in the year 2000, a 76 kg bomb was recovered in Kotalipara, Bangladesh. Hasina was addressing a rally at that time.
Hasina’s passport has been cancelled
Currently, there are more than 100 cases registered against Sheikh Hasina in Bangladesh. Bangladesh’s International Crimes Tribunal has issued an arrest warrant against Hasina over the alleged disappearance of 500 people during her 15-year rule. Hasina’s passport has already been revoked by the current Muhammad Yunus administration. Bangladesh has also demanded Hasina’s return from India.
