For the last two years, the ongoing dispute over the demand of compensation by the farmers for the laying of a pipeline of a gas company in the fields of village Lelewala has not reached any conclusion yet. As the issue is not resolved, the police, administration and farmers have come face to face again today in the said village.
Meanwhile, along with heavy police force, the company has started the work of laying gas pipelines in the fields by bringing big machines. The village has been shifted to Lelewala police cantonment. Anti-riot vehicles and other arrangements have been made by the police and administration to deal with the situation.
Once again the situation turned tense when the farmers gathered in the village seized the company’s pipe-laden truck passing by the Gurdwara. SP Narinder Singh reached the spot with a heavy force and rescued this truck from the possession of Kishans. On the other hand, farmers have started gathering in Lelewala village under the leadership of (BKU Ugrahan).
