Jaipur, 17 January
Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot today accused Punjab and the Central Government of showing insensitivity towards farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal, who is on an indefinite hunger strike.
The Congress leader said that this is the reason why 111 more farmers have gone on hunger strike to put their point before the government. Gehlot said in a statement, “Farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal has been on hunger strike for 51 days so far. His health is constantly deteriorating. In these 51 days, Punjab and the central government have shown complete insensitivity.”
He said that after nearly 700 farmers lost their lives in opposition to the three black laws, the government listened to their complaints. He said, “It is beyond understanding why such a situation arises again and again and why the government does not want to find a solution by talking to the farmers’ delegation.” -News-Patiala
