Think you are scrolling on Instagram or Facebook and a good cafe or tourist spot looks. You take a screenshot but later forget what the place was. Now this will not happen. This new feature of Google, which is based on Gemini AI technology, recognizes the location by automatically scanning your screenshot and gives it the option to save it in Google Maps.
This feature is especially useful for those who prefer to explore new places – whether it is a cafe, restaurant or any place to roam.
To take advantage of this facility, first update your Google Maps app. Then open the app and go to the ‘You’ section. Here you will see a new section called ‘screenshots’. It will also get a small demo which explains the functioning of the feature.
When Google recognizes a location in your screenshot, it will show a review screen. If you want, you can save or leave that location – the decision is completely in your hands.
If you have allowed Google Maps to access all your photos, then this feature will scan every new screenshot on its own and will show you a clean carocel that will have all the identified locations. Apart from this, if you want, you can also scan by selecting screenshots manually. It also has a clear button, so that you can turn on or off this feature anytime.
Overall, this new feature is making Google Maps even smarter and useful, especially for those who are fond of walking and do not want to miss any place.
