A new feature has arrived for Google account users. This gives another option to recover the account in case of losing the phone or forgetting the password. What is recovery contact feature?
In this feature, Google gives you the option to add your friends or any acquaintance to your account. With the help of this contact you can get access to your locked account. Whether your account has been hacked or you have forgotten your password, with the help of this recovery contact you will be able to verify your identity on Google. In such a situation, Google will send a unique code to this contact. With the help of this code you will be able to log in to your account again. This code will remain valid for 15 minutes.
How to add recovery contact to account?
For this, go to Google account settings and open the Security tab. Now you will be able to add a new recovery contact in the recovery option visible here. To add it you will have to send an invite. Once the invite is accepted, the person will be added to your recovery contact. You can add 10 people in this option. If you recover your account with the help of any of these contacts, you will not be able to add it to the recovery contact again for seven days.
These options are available now
Currently, the option of recovery email and phone number is available in Google, but these also have risks like SIM swap and phishing. Humans have been added to the new feature. In such a situation, even if your phone number or SIM card is compromised, your recovery contact will help you in getting the account back.
