Six members of a family were injured after the roof of a two-storey house collapsed and caught fire in North Delhi today. The police officer said that the incident took place around 7 am in the Shani Bazar area. The family was cooking when the incident took place, due to which the members of the family were burnt and injured. Atul Garg, Chief of Delhi Fire Department, said that we received information about fire and building collapse in Shani Bazar area of Narela at 7.53 am. Two fire tenders were immediately rushed to the spot. He said that the roof of DDA Janata flat collapsed.
Due to this, the PNG gas pipeline broke and caught fire. The fire spread throughout the house. Raju (40), his wife Rajeshwari (35), their son Rahul (18), and their three daughters Mohini (12), Varsha (5) and Mahi (3) were in the kitchen when the roof collapsed. A police officer said that they were pulled out from under the debris. The injured were taken to Raja Harishchandra Hospital where they were undergoing treatment. Doctors said the family members suffered injuries from debris and being close to the cooking fire. According to doctors, Raju suffered 52 percent burns, his wife 45 percent and son 45 percent. He said that his daughters Mohini, Varsha and Mahi suffered 50 percent, six and eight percent burns respectively. The official said that the matter is being investigated further.
