AAP’s Harpal Janeja has won the Patiala Municipal Corporation elections with the highest number of votes among all the winning candidates. He has contested from Ward No. 38 of Patiala. Meanwhile, he has won this election with a huge lead of 2591 votes by getting 2679 votes in direct competition with Pardeep Singh of Congress. The Congress candidate got only 88 votes while 46 votes also went to ‘NOTA’. Thus, Janeja’s lead of about 2600 votes is the biggest in Patiala district, but his supporters are also claiming it to be the biggest lead in Punjab. It may be mentioned that Harpal Janeja is a leader from Akali background. He left Akali Dal and joined AAP some time ago. Now he is considered to be close to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann at the Punjab level along with Arvinder Kejriwal and Sadip Pathak. On the other hand, Janeja was warmly welcomed by his supporters.
Honoring the winning candidates by the supporters
The winning candidates in the corporation elections were honored by the supporters today. Gurjit Singh Sahni of ‘AAP’ who won from ward number 58, urban president of ‘AAP’ Tejinder Mehta who won from ward number 34, Kundan Gogia, Krishan Chand Budhu, Gurkirpal Singh Kasiana, Shivraj Virak and many other winners were honoured.
