Russia News: At present, the birth rate has decreased significantly in many countries. China is at the forefront in this matter. So far these countries have taken several steps to deal with this problem. Now the name of Russia has also been added to these countries. Russia has taken a surprising step to increase the birth rate. A special announcement has been made for girls in a certain region of Russia. There, 100,000 rubles (about Rs. 81,000) are being offered to female students under the age of 25 for giving birth to a healthy baby.
A report in the Moscow Times said the initiative aims to support the country’s population growth amid a historic decline in the birth rate. This incentive amount is available for female students below 25 years of age. who are enrolled full-time at a local university or college. Also lives in Karelia region.
Many loopholes in the law
However, this scheme is not available to mothers who give birth to a stillborn child. The law does not specify whether payments will be canceled if the child dies due to sudden infant death syndrome, or whether mothers of disabled children are eligible for incentives. Furthermore, the policy does not clarify whether young mothers will receive additional support for childcare or post-partum recovery.
Why did Russia take the step?
This problem is also with China and Japan. Russia has not taken this decision like this. Russia’s birth rate has hit a historic low. According to the report, only 599,600 babies were born in the first half of 2024, the lowest number in 25 years. This figure is 16,000 less than the same period in 2023. The Kremlin has called the situation “catastrophic for the nation’s future”.
