A day ahead of the much-awaited show of famous Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh, the Punjab and Haryana High Court today approved the program but to ensure strict compliance with rules and regulations regarding prevention of noise pollution. has said

A division bench of Chief Justice Sheel Nagu and Justice Anil Kshetarpal issued directions that the sound level should not exceed 75 decibels during the show to be held on Saturday in Sector-34. The bench said that punitive action will be taken if the sound exceeds the permissible limit. The court said, “If the sound exceeds the permissible limit of 75 decibels, the authorities are directed to take action against the management.”

The court was hearing a public interest petition filed by a lawyer on behalf of the Union Territory of Chandigarh. This petition has been filed in connection with the management of public programs at the exhibition grounds of Sector-34. Among other things, the petitioner has raised issues of public safety, environmental pollution and violation of fundamental rights of people during the program on December 7 and the program on December 14.

Union Territory of Chandigarh is being represented by Senior Standing Counsel Amit Jhanji along with Advocates Abhinav Sood, Sumit Jain, Himanshu Arora, Anmol Gupta, Nitesh Jhajadia, Mehndi Singhal, Eliza Gupta and Satyam Garam.
