The Government of India is working on a very important plan to strengthen the digital future of the country. In the coming three years, the government is going to connect six lakh villages with high-speed internet. For this, ₹ 1.39 lakh crore will be spent under the ‘Bharatt Phase-3’ scheme. Telecom Secretary Neeraj Mittal recently gave this information during the CII-GCC Business Summit.
What is Indianet Phase 3?
Under the Bharatt Phase-3 scheme, all 2.5 lakh gram panchayats of the country and about 6 lakh villages related to them will be connected to the optical fiber broadband network. This network will also help in the expansion of Global Capability Centers (GCCs) in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities along with delivering high-speed internet in villages. Mittal said, “Within three years all panchayats and villages will be connected to the high-speed network.
Future preparations: 6G and mobile towers fiberization
In this scheme, mobile towers will also be linked to optical fiber, which will improve the quality and speed of the network. It will also prepare the country for the upcoming 6G technology. The government is also working on vacating additional spectrum to promote Wi-Fi services.
Data costs low, speed best
The Telecom Secretary said that the price of one GB data in India is just 9 cents (about ₹ 7-8), while the global average is $ 2.6 (about ₹ 215). Apart from this, India’s average broadband speed has reached 138 Mbps. Where GCCs are located, 99.6% of the area of there has already been covered from 5G network. There are only two districts where 5G service has not reached yet.
Smees and startups promote
The government will not only increase internet connectivity under this scheme, but will also promote startups, sms and R&D in the telecom sector. Government one Single-window portal Is also planning to ease foreign companies in the approval related to cable landing stations.
Indianet will change the digital fate of villages?
Bharatnet Phase 3 is considered to be the beginning of a digital revolution by not just a broadband project. This will make access to services like education, health, employment and e-governance in rural areas. At the same time, digital inclusion in villages will increase and rural India will move rapidly towards becoming self -sufficient.
