Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India on November 27 introduced electric scooters Activa-E and QC1 in the Indian market. This is the company’s first electric two-wheeler. At present, the company has not announced the price of both the vehicles. Booking for both models will begin from January 1, 2025, and deliveries will begin from February 2025. Both the EVs will compete with the Ola S1 range.
Activa-E will have swappable battery option and QC1 will have fixed battery pack option. The company claims that the Activa-E can achieve a top speed of 80 km and will travel 102 km on a full charge.
Whereas, QC1 will get a range of 80km on full charge and top speed of 50kmph. Honda is offering 3 years/50,000 km warranty, three free services and complimentary roadside assistance. This warranty offer is available to those who purchase EV in the first one year.
Activa E has two batteries of 3kW capacity. Due to which it can be run at a top speed of 80 kilometers per hour.
Both will come with five color options EV Honda Activa Electric and QC1 is an EV with an advanced and attractive design. The design of both the EVs is similar, only the hub motor is provided in the rear wheel of QC1. At the same time, the electric motor is installed on the side of the rear wheel of Activa-E.
The front apron of both EVs has LED headlamps, which are indicated with turn indicators and sleek LED DRL. The bodywork is shiny, with a mix of curved and straight lines. Both EVs will have 5 color options. Which includes Pearl Serenity Blue, Pearl Misty White, Matte Foggy Silver Metallic, Pearl Igneous Black and Pearl Shallow Blue.
Performance: 0-60 kmph speed in 7.3 seconds For performance in Activa-E, an electric motor mounted on the side of the rear wheel has been provided, which generates power of 8hp and torque of 22Nm. The company claims that the e-scooter can accelerate from 0-60 kmph in just 7.3 seconds.
It has three riding modes – Eco, Standard and Sport. Activa-E has been introduced with 3kWh battery pack. It has two 1.5 kWh swappable batteries. The company claims that the e-scooter will run 102 kilometers on a single charge.
At the same time, QC1 has a BLDC hub motor mounted in the rear wheel, which generates power of 2.4hp and torque of 77Nm. The company claims that this scooter can achieve the speed of 0-40 kmph in just 9.7 seconds and its top speed is 50kmph. It will have two riding modes – Standard and Eco.
To power the motor in QC1, a 1.5kWh fixed battery has been provided, which will give a range of 80 kilometers on full charge. A home charger will be provided with it, through which the battery can be fully charged in 6:50 hours and up to 80% in 4:30 hours.
Hardware: 12-inch alloy wheels For comfort riding, Honda Activa-E and QC1 have telescopic forks at the front and 5-step adjustable hydraulic twin shock absorbers at the rear. For braking, Activa-E has used 160mm front disc and 130mm drum brake at the rear, whereas QC1 will have 130mm drum brake in the front wheel and 110mm drum brake in the rear wheel. Both EVs have 12-inch alloy wheels on both sides.
Features: 7 inch TFT screen with inbuilt GPS navigation Talking about the features, Activa E has a 7-inch TFT screen with Bluetooth connectivity, music control, inbuilt GPS navigation, day and night mode. Apart from this, like ICE Active, smart key system, USB C-type charging port and hook has been provided. The QC1, on the other hand, comes with a 5.0-inch LCD display, a USB Type-C charging port, and a 26-litre under-seat storage.
Due to swappable battery in e-scooter, there will be very less under seat space.
Battery as a Service program will also be available with both EVs. The company will soon offer Battery as a Service (BAAS) with both the EVs, like car manufacturer MG Motor India. This is a battery rental program. Under this, the cost of the battery pack is not included in the price of purchasing an electric car. Instead, money will be charged according to battery usage.
That is, the cost of the battery will be recovered as rental fee according to the number of kilometers you drive, which you will have to pay as EMI every month, but you will have to pay separately for charging the battery. Both EVs will initially be sold from Honda BeX showrooms in Bengaluru, Delhi and Mumbai.
