Fake Vs Pure Ghee: A leading Ayurvedic brand guaranteeing the purity of ghee has failed a sample test. Ghee has been declared inedible by the investigating authorities. Hence, it is important for you to know the difference between real and fake ghee.
A popular Ayurvedic brand of the country is once again under scrutiny. The brand, which claims to provide pure Ayurvedic products to the public, has failed the ghee sample test. The investigating authorities have declared it inedible. Meanwhile, the district magistrate court has imposed a fine on the Patanjali company and the shopkeepers.
Although the brand owner has denied the decision, the biggest issue in this dispute is your health. So it is very important to know how you can independently verify the purity of genuine and fake ghee. Let us explain it in simple terms in this article.
How to identify real and fake ghee?
Pure ghee is very light in weight. Whenever you put it in water, it will float up. Now to check the purity all you have to do is take a glass of water and add a tablespoon of ghee to it. If the ghee settles to the bottom of the glass, it is adulterated.
Melt some ghee in a pan and refrigerate it for about an hour. When you do this, the pure ghee will look like a flat mass. However, adulterated ghee may separate into layers or form small lumps, which is a sign of adulterated oil.
The fragrance of pure ghee is very strong and natural. If the ghee does not smell after heating then do not consume it. A lack of aroma or a strange odor is a sign of adulteration.
Pure ghee does not harden even in cold weather. Although ghee can become solid like coconut oil in winter if adulterated, it needs to be heated to melt.
