Hydration is a natural remedy for uric acid, know how much water you should drink in a day

These days, high uric acid levels are common due to poor diet, irregular routine and lack of water. When the body breaks down purines — found in meat, legumes, mushrooms, seafood and some vegetables — uric acid builds up in the blood. Healthy kidneys excrete it through urine. However, when kidney function is impaired or purine-rich foods are eaten in excess, uric acid builds up in the body. This condition is called hyperuricemia.

If left untreated, high uric acid can form crystals in the joints, causing pain, inflammation, and a condition known as gout. It can also cause kidney stones, high blood pressure and heart disease.

Why is water important?
Water is the body’s natural detoxifier. It dissolves uric acid and helps to excrete it through urine. When the body is dehydrated, uric acid in the blood increases and crystals begin to form. Therefore, drinking enough water is essential for proper kidney function.
