The International Cricket Council (ICC) has banned America’s National Cricket League (NLC). The ICC wrote a letter to the United States of America Cricket (USAC) informing them of its decision not to sanction future editions of the league. It was written in the letter that the playing eleven rules were not followed in the league. 6-7 foreign players were played in this T-10 format tournament.

The first season of the NCL took place between 4 and 14 October. Chicago CC, captained by Robin Uthappa, won the title by defeating Atlanta Kings by 43 runs. God of cricket Sachin Tendulkar gave him the trophy.

Which rules were violated?

  • According to ICC rules, every team playing in the league should have at least 7 American players in its playing eleven, but in many matches 6-7 foreign players were fielded.
  • Drop-in pitches were used in the matches, which were very poor. The pitches were so bad that Wahab Riaz and Tymal Mills had to bowl spin so that the batsmen did not get hurt.
  • League officials even broke US immigration rules to give foreign players a chance. For sports category visa in America, it costs at least 2 lakh US dollars for 6 teams. Many players did not come on sports visa to save money.
