Currently, the controversy over the Champions Trophy to be hosted by Pakistan does not seem to end. When things calmed down after the tournament was in a hybrid model, now a new uproar has erupted. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has created a controversy. BCCI has refused to wear the Pakistan printed kit during the ICC Champions Trophy. Pakistan is the official host of the tournament and all the participating nations will have Pakistan’s name on their jerseys.
A new controversy regarding the Champions Trophy has been in the news for the past few days. According to the report, ever since the news of the Indian team not wearing the jersey with Pakistan’s name came out, there has been a sharp reaction from the Pakistan Cricket Board. According to reports, India refused to wear the jersey saying that they will play the match in Dubai. Therefore, it is not necessary to have Pakistan written on his jersey. The PCB and BCCI had agreed on a hybrid model for the Champions Trophy after the Indian board refused to send Team India to Pakistan due to security concerns. India is going to play all its matches in Dubai.
The PCB had complained about the refusal to participate in the tournament by wearing jerseys written on Pakistan. According to an NDTV report quoting A-Sports, the ICC has reportedly asked the Indian team to follow the policy of writing the name of the host nation on the jersey. The ICC also said it rejected the theory of India’s match being held in Dubai as Pakistan is the official host of the tournament.
An ICC official told A-Sports, “It is the responsibility of each team to put the tournament logo on their jersey. All teams must follow this rule. The report also states that the ICC has warned the BCCI that strict action will be taken if they refuse to wear the Pakistan jersey during the tournament.
