Dhanbad’s famous lawyer Sanjay spoke to Local 18 on this topic. Meanwhile, he said that there are two types of court marriages. First pre-marriage and second post-marriage. Nowadays, many young men and women enter into court marriages away from their families. Moreover, some people who stay away for work also opt for court marriage.
For court marriage, minimum age of boy should be 21 years and girl should be 18 years. Apart from this, both the parties have to bring some documents with them.
These documents should be-
Aadhaar Card
Academic Certificate (Marksheet)
Six passport size photographs
Presence of two witnesses and their identity cards
At the same time, witnesses can be your family members or your friends. Witnesses must be present to validate the marriage.
Legally the marriage is considered valid
After submitting all these documents and fulfilling the conditions, the marriage is solemnized in the court. After this, the marriage is considered legally valid, and you are accepted as husband and wife. If there is a court marriage then there will be no problem in the village society.
However, if for some reason the marriage breaks down and the matter escalates to divorce, the witnesses who were present at the time of the marriage may also have to appear in court.
