Duration and Structure of Internship
MEA Internship Program is organized twice every year:
Term 1: April to September
Term 2: October to March
A total of 30 interns are placed during each term. Interns are appointed for a minimum of one month and a maximum of three months.
Regional quota system
Candidates applying for internship are selected on the basis of ‘quota cum weightage’ system. Under this system, candidates from 14 states and 4 union territories are given priority. The states and Union Territories included in Phase I include Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Delhi and others.
Eligibility Criteria for Internship
The benefit of the MEA Internship Program is available to Indian citizens only. For this, the minimum educational qualification of the candidate should be a graduate degree from a recognized university or in the final year of a graduation program. Where this internship is a compulsory part. Apart from this, the age of the candidate should not be more than 25 years as on 31st December.
Stipend and travel allowance will be provided during the internship
Each intern will be given a monthly stipend of Rs 10,000 to cover their basic expenses. Apart from this, the selected candidates will also get air travel allowance from their home state or college/university to Delhi as per the prescribed fare in economy class.

Two main stages in the selection process for MEA Internship
Initial Screening: Candidates are selected on the basis of their academic performance.
Personal Interview: The Ministry conducts interviews through video conferencing, with preference given to candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/EWS categories.
After this process maximum 30 candidates are selected, and they are placed for internship.
