Jasbir Singh Shetrajgaon, December 13 Under the leadership of the leaders of Jamhuri Kisan Sabha, Punjab Kisan Sabha and CITU today, taking action against illegal mining, the nearby Sutlej river bridge was blocked by a dharna. Local officials reached the spot on receiving information about the jam on the Jalandhar-Jagaraon main road. The authorities assured the protestors to stop the mining, after which the protest was lifted and traffic was restored. A few days ago, the above organizations protested in front of Sidhwan Bet police station and demanded to stop illegal mining and if no action was taken, a chaka jam was also given on the Jalandhar-Jagaraon main road today. State leaders of CITU, Comrade Amarnath Koom Kalan and Daljit Kumar Gora, Jamhuri Kisan Sabha’s Balraj Singh Kotumra, Comrade Baljit Singh Gorsian and Comrade Gurdeep Singh led the dharna. Naib Tehsildar of Tehsil Mehtpur from Jalandhar district and Naib Tehsildar of Sidhwan Bet Tehsil from Ludhiana district reached the spot. Similarly, the police officers of both the districts also reached the protest site. After a three-hour discussion with these officials, an agreement was reached that appropriate action will be taken within three days against the illegal voters. After reaching an agreement, the protestors also handed over a demand letter to these officials in the name of the Chief Minister.
