Important news for 10th and 12th class students, they will be able to take the board exam only after 75% attendance…

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released important guidelines for students appearing for the 10th and 12th board examinations in the academic year 2025-26. Accordingly, 75% attendance in school will be mandatory for students appearing for board exams. Failure to do so will prevent release of internal assessment and mark sheets. This rule is especially applicable to students who rely solely on coaching. The board has taken this step in view of complaints of low attendance in schools.

In addition, schools will be responsible for completing Internal Assessments on time. Also, schools will no longer be able to introduce any new subject without CBSE’s permission. The notice containing the new guidelines was released by the CBSE on Monday. Board officials say that this change will encourage discipline and the habit of in-depth study of the subject among the students. This move by CBSE is considered important for better resource management in schools and ensuring equal opportunities for students.

CBSE has also announced rules for “compartment” or “Essential repeat”. Accordingly, if a student falls in the compartment category in an additional subject, he will be eligible to appear again as a private candidate. However, students who do not follow these rules will not be allowed to choose additional subjects as private candidates in the board examination.
