After the announcement of the recruitment of Agniveers in the army, several state governments have been promising to give them reservation in government jobs from time to time. But Haryana has become the first state to implement the policy of giving reservation to firemen in government and private jobs. Under the Haryana Agniveer Policy 2024, Agniveers will be given facilities like reservation in government and private jobs, cheap and easy loans for self-employment. They will also be exempted from Common Entrance Test (CET) for recruitment to government posts. Haryana Government has implemented Haryana Agniveer Policy 2024 and issued its notification. This has been confirmed by the State Military and Paramilitary Welfare Minister Rao Narbir Singh. He said that Haryana is the first state which has provided security to firemen. He said that the first batch of Agniveers will retire in July 2026. But the state government has already given him security cover.
There are 4045 Haryana soldiers in the first batch of Agniveers retiring in July 2026. Even before this, the state government has guaranteed them employment. Apart from providing jobs to the Agniveers, the government will fully assist them in skill development and self-employment.
Agniveer recruitment scheme started in 2022
The central government had announced the recruitment scheme of fire fighters under the Agnipath Yojana on 15 July 2022. Under this, 25 percent of the soldiers recruited as Agniveer will be regularly recruited in the army. The remaining 75 percent of Agniveer will retire. In the year 2022-23, 1830 soldiers from Haryana and in the year 2023-24, about 2215 soldiers were recruited as firemen in the three armies.
Calculation of reservation given to Agnivirs
According to the Haryana Agniveer Policy 2024, Agniveers will be given 10 percent horizontal reservation in the recruitment of Police, Mining Guard, Jail Warden and SPO posts. Apart from this, 5 percent reservation will be given in Group C direct recruitment.
5 years relaxation in age limit
Agnivirs of the first batch will be given relaxation of five years in the age limit at the time of recruitment. Apart from this, they will also get exemption from CET exam. Not only this, they will also be given a loan of up to Rs 5 lakh for self-employment.
Reservation for firemen in private sector
Agniveers will also be given preference in recruitment through Haryana Skill Employment Corporation Limited. Apart from this, the government will also provide an annual subsidy of Rs 60,000 to industries that provide jobs to Agniveers at a monthly salary of more than Rs 30,000. Those Agniveers who wish to serve as private security guards will be given priority in issuing gun licences.
A dedicated unit will be created in each department
According to reports, the Haryana government is going to create a dedicated unit in each department. Whose job will be to see in which department and unit the Agniveers can be placed. Therefore, the merit of Agniveeras who have completed their service will be evaluated.
