Jitinder Bhalla, Chairman of Urban Improvement Trust, formally inaugurated the 2800 meter long canal built at a cost of 60 lakh rupees in Tiona village. Mr. Bhalla said that after the construction of this canal, about 700 acres of Tiona area will be supplied with canal water, while before this canal water was not reaching the said area. He said that the underground water in the villages of Bathinda (rural) constituency is very bad, which is not beneficial for the crops, but there was also a great shortage of canal water in this area. He said that after the formation of the Aam Aadmi Party government, the undertaking of providing canal water to the farmers of this area has been taken up. Under this, the work of 68 moghas and pipe lines of Bathinda (rural) constituency has been completed, on which 31 crore 42 lakh rupees have been spent by the government in one year. He said that canal water will be made available in all areas of Bathinda Rural Constituency in the next financial year. On this occasion, Axion Raman Sidhu of Land Defense Department, Manjit Singh Sarpanch of Tiona village, Surjit Singh President of Cooperative Society Tiona and farmers along with Lovepreet Singh were present.
