India lodged strong protest with Pak: India lodged a protest with Pakistan regarding objectionable comments against Shaheed Bhagat Singh


New Delhi, December 6

India has taken cognizance of the recent news about objectionable comments against Shaheed Bhagat Singh in Pakistan and has lodged a strong protest with Islamabad on the issue. The government gave this information in the Lok Sabha today. Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh said India has been raising issues related to “attacks on cultural heritage, growing intolerance and lack of respect towards minority communities” in the neighboring country. In reply to a question, the Minister said, “The Government of India has taken cognizance of recent reports of objectionable comments against Shaheed Bhagat Singh in Pakistan and has lodged a strong protest with the Government of Pakistan through diplomatic channels.” The valuable contribution of Shaheed Bhagat Singh in the struggle cannot be forgotten. Asghar Leghari, Advocate General of Pakistan’s Punjab government, had allegedly made some objectionable remarks against Bhagat Singh during a hearing in the Lahore High Court last month. Kirti Vardhan Singh said, ‘Bhagat Singh’s Martyrdom Day is celebrated every year in India and abroad.’ -News-Patiala
