Sports complex is being prepared in Ahmedabad to host the Commonwealth Games.
Along with India, Nigeria has also claimed to host the Centenary (100th) Commonwealth Games to be held in 2030. 31 August was the last date for hosting for host.
Commonwealth Sports (CS) President Dr. Donald Rukaure said, “We are happy to announce that India and Nigeria have submitted proposals for hosting the 2030 Centenary Commonwealth Games.” The positive reply received by these two sports superpower nations shows that the importance of the Commonwealth Games and its legacy is still intact.
India has organized the Commonwealth Games in Delhi in 2010.
Formation of evaluation committee The Executive Board of Commonwealth Sports has formed the evaluation committee. The committee will be chaired by CS Vice President Sandra Osborne CC, who is also the Chairman of the Barbados Commonwealth Games Association and Olympic Committee. Other members in the committee include Helen Philips, Brendon Williams, Ian Reid, and Andrew Ryan. As part of the evaluation process, representatives of the two countries in London will individually present their proposals in London at the end of September 2025. The committee will then submit its report to the CS Executive Board, which will recommend the host for 74 member countries and regions. The final approval will be given in November 2025 in the General Assembly to be held in Glasgow, Scotland.
Last year was claimed for 2036 Olympics India is also preparing for hosting 2036 Olympic Games. In November last year, India submitted a claim to host it. The Olympic hosts of 2032 have been fixed. The 2032 host is given to the city of Brisbane in Australia. While the 2028 Olympic Los Angeles is to be held
India has also done 2 Asian Games India has so far hosted 3 multi sports games. These include the Asian Games of 1951 and 1982 and the 2010 Commonwealth Games. There were Commonwealth Games in Delhi in 2010.
