India once again supports Nepal’s education sector, sending 81 free school buses


The friendship between Nepal and India has often been in the news. Whenever Nepal has faced any crisis, India has always come forward to help. This strong friendship reflects development and education cooperation in the country. Government of India has donated 81 school buses to educational institutions located in 48 districts of Nepal. This initiative reflects India’s long-term commitment in the field of education.

Significant contribution in the field of education
The partnership between India and Nepal is an important contribution in the field of education. The Indian Embassy in Kathmandu is describing it as a symbol of development partnership and deep friendship. A total of 81 school buses will be distributed in all the seven provinces, including some flood affected districts – Illum, Jhapa, Udaipur, and remote districts – Humla, Mustang, Sankhuwasbha, Darchula, Baitadi, Achham, etc.

Contribution of 381 school buses
This is not the first time that India has provided education related assistance to Nepal. In the last 30 years, India has donated a total of 381 school buses to educational institutions in Nepal. This initiative has made it easier for Nepali students to go to school. Buses, especially in rural and hilly areas, have made it easier for students to go to school.

Recently, heavy rains and floods have caused considerable damage in Nepal, prompting Prime Minister Narendra Modi to express condolences and offer assistance. India has supported Nepal in situations ranging from the 2015 earthquake to the 2020 floods. It is worth noting that India and Nepal are not only neighbors but also partners.
